Phi is the Greek letter used to symbolize “The Golden Section, Ratio or Mean,” also known as “The Divine Proportion.” Mathematically, it’s 1.618, where
a:b = b:c, where b+c=a
This relationship continues on ad infinitum, as in b:c = c:d, where c+d = b.
As GoldenNumber.net explains, Phi (1.618) and phi (0.618, the reciprocal of Phi) show “up in relationships throughout the universe.”
I am very excited, because I’ve just used Phi to work out the divine proportion of nutrients in the diet. If we apply Phi to optimal nutrition,
the whole diet is to the complex carbohydrates (a:b)
100% : 62%
as the complex carbohydrates are to the fats and protein combined (b:c)
62% : 38%
as the fats and protein combined are to the good fats (c:d)
38% : 23.5%
as the good fats are to the protein (d:e).
23.5% : 14.5%
the whole diet comprises complex carbs + good fats + protein
100% = 62% + 23.5% + 14.5%
What more proof is required to justify these proportions in the creation of a balanced diet, dispelling the idea of the high protein diet and the low fat diet?
You want more proof? These proportions are the same that are found in the make up of nutrients in mother’s milk. What more perfect human food is there?
Best of health, naturally,
Nina

Super-Duper site! I am loving it!! Will come back again – taking your feeds too now, Thanks.
Nina, this is the first post of yours I’ve read, but I’m loving it! I’m a huge math nerd and this hit a serious sweet spot with me. Now I’m about to go dive into a cyber abyss learning all about the divine proportion! I love that you found the link in the world of nutrition. Can’t wait to read more of your posts!
Hi Chloe:
I’m so glad you found this post! I’m working on expanding this idea further. I was researching nutrients in breast milk in the library yesterday. So stay tuned!
