According to Dr. Philip Maffetone and his “Holistic, Low-Stress, No-Pain Way to Exceptional Fitness” Program that he published as The Maffetone Method, walking is “the safest workout” (page 97).
I’ve been walking cardiovascularly – is that a word? – for years now and I find it the most exhilarating, the cheapest, the most convenient [...]
I read this morning in NOW Foods’ weekly newsletter that melatonin is lacking in breast cancer patients. Melatonin is the hormone produced by the pineal gland, that pine-shaped gland of little known function that resides deep inside our brains. RenĂ© Descartes called the pineal gland “the seat of the soul,” describing it as the site [...]
I attended a great workshop with Swami Gajanand of Yoga in Daily Life in early May. It was very good – very relaxing at a time when I was having nightly bouts of reflux, which are, thank heavens, now over. Probably a mixture of stress and diet and a new lifestyle as a student at [...]
I’ve just discovered the great resource that’s called Google Scholar. Didn’t even know it existed. For instance, I was directed to look up Cyndi Dale’s The Subtle Body in Google Scholar. What an incredible resource! It seems as though the whole book is there! And I’ve just added it to My Library. Yet another reason [...]
Where does the time go?
Last time I blogged was last Friday. My current excuse is that I’m studying for an anatomy and physiology test for next Monday. So, it really is spring, and I realise that I managed to get through the entire winter without getting a cold, just as I decided to do.
I did start incubating a cold germ or something in the back of my throat about a month ago. But it didn’t make me sick.
How did I do it?
Attitude [...]
I received a cream bath lotion from the Provenance Bath Collection as a gift last year. I haven’t used it because of its scary list of ingredients and the warning on the label.
Ingredients
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauramide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Glycerin, Glycol Stearate, Parfum, Propylene Glycol, Polysilicone-7, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Methylparaben, Citric Acid, Benzophenone, [...]
For the last little while, my toes have been cramping through the night. I’ve woken up in the mornings and realised that they are sore. I didn’t do anything about these cramps and basically ignored them! Not sensible I now realise.
Then I realised that I wasn’t taking calcium and magnesium with my daily supplements. When [...]
Here’s a link to my littlest granddaughter’s favourite song to go to sleep by!
Best of health, naturally,
Nina
Have you noticed when you are on holiday or retire or reach any other stage when the timed commitments (like meetings and appointments and deadlines) fall away, that we stay up later and get up later and altogether defy the 24-hour clock?
It’s been shown through experimentation time and again that our diurnal clocks lengthen when [...]
